BIG NEWS HERE!!!

6/24/06

It has been WAY too long since I updated and with the increased popularity of the series thanks to Viz and their English translations I figured it was time to get on the ball about it.  I added a link to the main page to the LiveJournal community I started a while back divoted to the series.  Feel free to check it out.  I can be contacted there just as easily as through the guest book (though the LJ is probably quicker).

Today I transformed the Translations page into a Summaries page for the volumes not yet out.  I have only completed summaries for 13 and 14 so far.

Links Page:  I got rid of some of the stagnant links, added one for the official Viz site and one for the LiveJournal community.
Shinnohara: I added to two most recent series to the list (along with IBSN#s and pictures)

5/24/04

I was checking out the AX2004 web site today and I found that the guy who does the voice of Kikkulli in the drama CDs will be at AX.  Tomokazu Seki, has a large number of series under his belt and it is really cool to see that he worked on Sora wa Akai Kawa no Hotori as well.  So if you are going to AX bring a copy of the drama CDS or something Sora wa and get it signed. ^_^

3/21/04

While the English version of Anatolia Story will be done in June it will not be available in stores until July.  However apparently Viz is going to have something specail about that and the others at Anime Expo.  So if you plan to be in Califonia around the 4th of july check it out.

3/1/04

I know it has been too long since I updated so let me just throw all the information in here at once.

[Akatsuki no Lion]  This story turned out to be realy short and only lasted 3 chapters in Betsucomi (which is monthly so the chapters are pretty long).

[Romance of Darkness]  This is the new story in Betsucomi by Shinohara.  There are only 2 chapters out so far but I like it.  (I will try to get a picture up when I get a copy of the background the Betsucomi site offered for a while.

[Red River]  This is the truely big news.  Sora wa Akai Kawa no Hotori has been picked up for translation into English by Viz.  This is just as we had hoped it would be.  The first volume will be available in July.  I will do my best to keep up with the release dates and updates for the story.  It looks like we have something to mention again.  For now check out the following link.

Well I thought we had seen the last of any updates for Shinohara and Anatolia specifically.  But low and behold in Sho-comi 9 of this year there was the following ad.  It appears she is moving publications to a more adult forum (Betsucomi) and will be continuing with a story set in Anatolia.  It is not for certain yet if this is a continuation of Anatolia Story, a new story or just a short.  But it is good news! ^_^

3/7/03

Check out this site as a great place to find Anatolia stuff.

www.rinkya.com

It is an English site that allows you to win Japanese Yahoo Auctions.  It costs a lot so I would suggest buying more than one thing or only expensive items, but it is cool to check out even if you only want to see what can be bought.  To find Anatolia stuff on this site go to the search box and type in Shinohara (or Chie Shinohara).  Then click on the link for "Shinohara, Chie all".

For less complicated things you can always look up stuff on Ebay.  Items are rare and usually mixed in with other Anatolia stuff but you can ocationally find good stuff.  The best key words to use there are:

(Chie) Shinohara
Anatolia Story
Sora wa Akai Kawa no Hotori

We finally have a listing of what the box set contains along with some pictures

- Small Artbook
- Deck of Playing Cards
- Stuffed Ashlan
- Necklace with Seal penant
- Perfume Container
- CD
- Ad for Radio Play 8  using the picture from Vol. 7
- Tin decorated with cuneiform to keep everything in

9/14/02

Well I have the pictures of the Fan book up on the Manga page.  But I also wanted to share the picures and what we know about this "Special Box" set that is available (only to people in Japan).  Here are the pictures I have scanned of the best ad for it.

The box includes Cards, a CD, pictures and more.

8/25/02

Well Volume 28 (and the last volume) is finally available.  There is also a Fan Book to get which is really cool.  It has character information as well as location and some history info.  I will put the covers of both the fan book and volume 28 up in the manga section.  Kail has put the "Special Box" on order so we can find out what that is too. ^_^

Volume 28 has an extra story that was not in Sho comi.  The Fan book has another short story that deals yuri's sister in the present (pretty cool).

7/21/02

Besides that fact that today is Kail's birthday there is other big news.  Shinohara's new series will be starting soon.  Probably in Sho Comi 15 or 16.  in Sho comi 14 there was some fan art printed of Yuuri and Aripass.  I will post it in the fan art section soon.  Kail also has done a beautiful picture that is posted in the same section.

AX2002 was our first AX.  Though we have heard about it many times from fellow anime fans.  We got to meet Hero for the first time there.

6/29/02

The last chapter in "Orantes" is out.  I love the ending.  Just a month or so till the last manga.  I will post info on that as it becomes available.  For now Kail, Hero and I are off to AX 2002 for the weekend.  I will have some pictures and info up when we get back.

6/17/02

Well the indepth for Sora Wa in Animerica Extra finally came out this latest issue.  It is available to buy now in stores.  The article is only one page that summerises the first book but that is still so cool.  I hope we get many more people interested in the story because of it.  Maybe even an English version eventually!  We can always hope. ^_^

In other news:  Volume 7 of the Radio Plays is due out 7/24/02 in Japan and hopefully shortly there after we will be able to get it here in the US and other contries.

Volume 28 (and the last volume) of Sora wa Akai Kawa no Hotori will be available in Japan 7/26/02 which will give them time to finish up the "Orantes" arch and have it in the next book.  I believe that Yuri and Aripass will be on the cover of this book (see the manga section for more info).

Part 2 of "Orantes" is out.  Deffinantly has a good ending/clifhanger for the last part.  I already love Yuri!  I will try to get info and pictures up on this soon as well as stuff on Kikkulli's day.  I have stuff scanned for both but it is a matter of time and space availability.

There is also reportedly a "Special Box" available in Japan only for fans.  We don't know exactly what this box is yet but we are working on finding out.  We will let you know when we do find out.

It looks like the last story for Sora Wa  will be in Volume 11 of Sho Comi.  I will get info up on it as soon as possible.  Also sometime this Fall her new series will start.  I look forward to that!  There is info up on the sho comi site but I am not able to access it strangely enough.  Kail sent me screen shots of it.  We are trying to get the general info translated so we can post it here.  Hopefully that wont be too long in coming.  Here is a picture from the page at any rate.  Here is the original article for those who can read it.

Thank you Yui for translating and sending us the translation of the "Thank You" letter written on the Sho Comi web site.  Here it is in it's entirety.

"Sora ha Akai Kawa no Hotori" finally reached it's ending. It has been exactly 7
years since this manga started running in Shoujo Comic's 3rd issue in year 1995.
For all the readers who kept on reading till the end, I cannot express enough
 gratitude. Thank you m(_ _)m .

To me, these 7 years seemed long yet short, short yet long. There were many
parts I couldn't draw completely or finish, but I can only admit and self-examin
that this is my real ability as of now (cry).

But, it is also a fact that I enjoyed drawing.

For this reason, I was able to create few outside stories. Like how the three
captains [or leaders.. you know, Lucifer, Kashu, and Mettannamuwa] first started
serving for Kail, when Zannanza was still working in Kanesh [sp? if you
transliterate, it's Kaneshu...], and what happened to the Hittite Empire after
the series ended; there's lots (laugh).

I am supposed to write 2 stories in the near future. A short story, "Kikkuli's
day" (doesn't really matter if it's Aslan's day, the story is almost exactly the
same (laugh)), and a long story, "Orontes [sp? transliterate: Oronntesu] Love
Song". I'd gradly appreciate it if readers would read other upcoming extra
 stories as well."

Oh yes the manga did end.  In fact it actually ended two weeks ago but I didnt get my Sho Comi untill last Saturday.  It is a beautiful ending.  (as was posted in the guest book) there will be two more short stories that we will also report on when they come out.  One about Kikkuli and one about Ramses Wedding.  We are so sad it is over but we will be looking forward to her next series and will report on that too as soon as we here.  She printed the thank you picture again and there is a thank you page on Shogakuan Web site here (it requires a Japanese pug in to view the text and knowlege of Japanese to read however).  It basically thanks readers for being faithful to and reading Sora Wa.  I will get a complete translation when its possible.

Today Kail messaged me to tell me that she got her new Animerica Extra and the letter she wrote that we posted the reply to below is printed in it. ^_^  You will have to buy an issue to check it out but that is cool!!

1/6/02

I got my Sho Comi last night and a good friend translated a part on the Title Page for us.  Basically it says there will be three more issues left of the story.  So as we had thought it is coming to an end.  We are all sad about this but the story has had a great run and I will look forward to seeing her next manga work.   Anyway when the last issue is available we will let you know as well as when the last book is out.  In the mean time you can check out the Sho Comi official Page and get your very own Ramses Wall paper for your computer.

Ok we found out in Sho Comi 23 that there may be an OVA available for Anatolia story.  I am still working on getting the specifics of the information.  If it is infact available then we are going to be doing our damnedest to get a copy, work out the script and get it subbed by a friend of ours.  We will keep you updated as things come to light on this!

Also on the same page we found that they have some interesting things available such as Yuuri's famous necklace, a pen in the shape of Nakia's Staff,  a paper sword, a cel phone cord thing with a sword on it.  and much more.  Here is a link to the pictures.
